Organization: Rescue Lake Simcoe Coalition
Location: Simcoe County, Ontario

Do you live or have a cottage in the Lake Simcoe watershed or York Region or Simcoe County? Do you want to do your part in ensuring the health of the Lake Simcoe watershed for generations? The Rescue Lake Simcoe Coalition is a non-profit group that provides leadership and motivates people to take action to protect Lake Simcoe and its future.

Education and empowerment of local groups is the way we make a difference. We focus on promoting dialogue between citizens and their governments around the lake. By sharing information and opportunities for collaboration and action, we learn what is relevant, and work together towards important goals.

We are looking to fill the following board member positions. Please read through entire descriptions & send in your application if you feel you are the right fit for the job!

  • Fundraising Lead
  • Event Planning Lead

  • Environmental Research Lead

Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, be available to participate in monthly Board meetings (1 hours in length), AGM, and join at least one Board Committee and contribute 3-5 hours per month

Fundraising Lead (Volunteer Board Member)

Responsibilities

  • Seek new and creative fundraising opportunities for RLSC
  • Seek high end donations from individuals or businesses
  • Planning donation appeals, supporting letter writing
  • Work with volunteer event coordinator to plan and manage fundraising events (galas, community events etc)
  • Attend monthly Board meetings (1 hour)
  • Attend and lead fundraising committee meetings

Event Coordinator (Volunteer Board Member)

Responsibilities

  • Planning outreach events in communities in the Lake Simcoe Watershed
  • Coordinate volunteers for tabling at community events
  • Lead committee for planning and coordinating fundraising events
  • Attend monthly Board meetings (1 hour)

Treasurer (Volunteer Board Member)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and monitor the financial performance of the organization
  • Consult with board of directors and Executive Director on financial matters
  • Work with our paid bookkeeper to prepare budgets, and reports to inform board of directors of organization’s financial status as well as to support grant applications and reporting

Research Lead (Volunteer Board Member)

Responsibilities

  • Lead research projects, potentially with partner organizations
  • Support the work of the Executive Director on current campaigns
  • Attend monthly Board meetings (1 hour)
  • Attend and lead research committee meetings
