Join the work crew at Evergreen Garden Market for plant delivery days, clean-up sessions and more. The Garden Market is Evergreen’s mission-driven retail garden centre and general store that equips people to live more sustainably while raising funds to support community programming at Evergreen. The work crews will help with moving heavy display furniture and plants, unloading and placing plants, sweeping, cleaning and more. The crews will have fun, learn a bit and have a sense of accomplishment.
What you bring: You are comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, reaching, crouching, and lifting at least 25lbs. This is physical work. You don't mind getting dirty, in fact, the dirtier the better! You are reliable, enthusiastic, and keen to help. You’re a team player who can work independently. You are 16 years or older.
When and where: All work will be done at the Evergreen Garden Market at Evergreen Brick Works, 550 Bayview Ave. Shifts will usually be from 10am to 2pm and you can sign up for one or more. Spring dates are as follows (more may be added) but subject to change due to weather, truck breakdowns and other factors that can affect deliveries. We’ll keep you posted!
How we’ll support you: You will get a brief introduction to Evergreen and the Garden Market at the start and will receive an overview of proper lifting techniques, health and safety protocols and other important tips. We’ll provide the gloves and equipment along with snacks and you’ll get support on the day from Garden Market staff.
Good to know: You will be working outdoors so come dressed appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy closed-toe shoes, steel toed shoes if you have them. Evergreen runs a free shuttle bus from Broadview subway station and there is a paid parking lot on site.
