Hollyhock is a world-renowned leadership centre located on Cortes Island, BC. Hollyhock exists to inspire, nourish, and support people who are making the world better. We offer 80+ programs and conferences each year, to help people connect to self, nature, and community. In addition to world-class programming, Hollyhock features magnificent vegetarian cuisine, lush gardens, and an incredible oceanfront setting amidst ancient trees.
Participants in our four-week Resident Service Program work in all departments including kitchen, housekeeping, maintenance, hosting, garden, and store. You will be scheduled up to 30 work hours per week spread over 5 days. The work is physical in nature; requiring stamina, energy, and range of motion. A Resident should be capable of working on their feet for several hours at a stretch without risk of excessive fatigue or injury, and must be comfortable living in a collective situation.
Hollyhock Residents receive full meals and accommodation in a pleasant shared house close to the main campus. While Residents do not participate in regular program offerings, they are welcome to enjoy Presenter Nights and regular interactions with guests and presenters. Special programs for Residents include yoga, personal growth sessions, nature immersion outings, and field trips.
There is a fee of $595 CAD per session to cover basic costs. Sessions begin on April 12 and end on Oct 18. Participants are responsible for their own travel to Cortes Island, and must have health insurance to cover the duration of their stay.
