We are currently accepting internship applications for April 15th – August 31st 2018.

Position: 2018 Wildlife Rehabilitation Volunteer Interns
Organization: Heaven's Wildlife Rescue
Type: 2 to 4 month volunteer positions with free on-site accommodations.
Location: Oil Springs, Ontario — with on-site accom.
Application deadline: March 15th, 2018 or sooner if the 6 positions are filled prior to that date.

Heaven's Wildlife Rescue is located in a small village in southern Ontario. There is no access to public transportation we will provide a ride to town once per week to purchase groceries etc. Arrangements can be made to provide a ride to town on your 2 days off so you can use public transportation to travel if wanted. Facilities include a bunkhouse shared with 3 others to sleep and use of the main house to use kitchen and bathroom facilities. There is wireless internet and a laundry facilites. Food costs are not included.

Internship Duration:

All intern positions are voluntary and full time. Position duration varies from a minimum of 1 months up to maximum of 5 months, 5 days per week, 45-50 hours per week, (usually 9 to 10hr days). Schedule is rotating and includes days, evenings, split shifts and weekends (depending on the needs of the wildlife patients)

Currently looking for spring/summer interns (April 15th – August 31st).

Animal Care Internships:

Our interns learn a variety of wildlife rehabilitation skills and techniques. Responsibilities will include but not limited to: patient admissions, assisting with species examinations, species specific diet preparations, feeding orphaned babies, indoor cage and outdoor enclosure cleaning, medication administration, wound management, assisting with turtle egg harvesting and incubating. (depending on admissions) grounds maintenance such as grass cutting, weed wiping, painting, cleaning, dishes, laundry (wild babies make us a lot of laundry :-) )


We provide free of charge on-site accommodations in a bunk house shared with other volunteers, in the main house you will have access to kitchen and bathroom facilities. A washing machine is available for use as well as WiFi. Please state on your application whether or not you would like to be considered for accommodations.


  • At least 18 years of age
  • Commitment to the length of the internship
  • Must be dedicated and reliable.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Must commit to work hours according to the needs of our wildlife patients.
  • Must be team oriented and work well with others.
  • Must have or be willing to get rabies vaccinations and a titre prior to volunteer start. (this process takes 3-9 weeks depending on vaccine availability and titre results time).
  • Must have rabies vaccines and titre prior to start date.
