Position: Organic Farm Workers and Interns
Type: full-time seasonal (April - October) workers and interns, live on the farm, meals and accomodations provided (see below)
Farm: Earth Haven Farm
Location: Thomasburg, near Belleville and Tweed, Eastern Ontario

Earth Haven Farm is a 200 acre, certified organic farm north of Belleville, Ontario.  Our farm is at the end of a dead end road next to 3,000 acres of conservation land with no commercial farmers in close proximity.  This makes us ideal for organic as well as biodynamic farming practices.  We are First Nations and partner with the Indian Agriculture Program of Ontario, so a stay at our farm would be ideal for students of indigenous, agricultural and environmental studies.  We have had a number of students in the past that have come to work for us while working on various degrees of study and thesis projects.  International students, WWOOF'ers, Work-Away and Farm Stay participants are most welcome.

When it comes to farming and agriculture, the best education is experience.

We are looking for at least one full-time intern and as many farm workers as we have housing for to work April through October.  We grow market garden vegetables, raspberries, and a number of other small orchard fruits.  We sell at two farmers markets in Toronto, so there is opportunity to help out or manage one of the markets and earn money.  We pick Tuesdays and Fridays for our markets and our CSA program.  There will also be opportunties to work in our commercial kitching making preserves throughout the growing season as well.

You must be legal to live, work or visit in Canada and have a valid health card or travel health insurance. A face to face interview will be required either at the farm or through Skype.

Job duties and experience will entail picking and packing for CSA and farmers markets, starting seedlings, transplanting, weeding, mulching, harvesting, working in the greenhouse and the fields. Our biggest seasonal crops are hay, garlic, tomatoes, raspberries and the three sisters (corn, beans and squash). This is a farm and work will be required regardless of weather conditions.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for people who are mature and are genuinely seeking to grow knowledge, wisdom and sensing the natural work through a working experience.  The work is season in all kinds of weather conditions, with long days working outdoors in the seasonal elements of nature, however, it is through these experiences that you will gain the greatest appreciation and gratitude for food and the natural world.  Candidates will learn through their experiences here on the farm, and will have a willingness to work alongside others, accept diversity, take instruction and be able to work and spend time alone.

To find out more details and get a full sense of our farm and day to day activities, visit our website at or call and speak with Aric (farm manager) at 613-478-3876.
