Spend an amazing couple of weeks working at the edge of world-famous Algonquin Park as a host at the Wolf Den Hostel & Nature Retreat. Meet people from all over the globe, and use time off to explore the wonders of the park by canoe, kayak, bike, hiking and camping.
Work For Stay Volunteer Host
2 to 3.5 hours work per day in exchange for accomodation (private or shared, depending on availability and hours) use of our common kitchen and access to our canoe and bike. These hours can be given daily or accrued by working full-time for a few days, giving you the chance to take the next few days fully off. (Sweet!)
Summary of Responsibilities:
We have a pretty egalitarian approach to teamwork at the Wolf Den. All staff (including the owners) are involved in every aspect of keeping the Den clean and happy. Daily team responsibilities include cleaning the main lodge and outdoor wash-station, copious amounts of laundry, negotiating compost access with the racoons, turning over bunkhouses and cabins between guests, helping out in our gardens, setting a welcoming atmosphere, keeping an eye on the campfire at night, chatting with guests about their adventures in the park, offering trail and canoe route tips, and answering questions about park ecology and history.
Requirements and Attributes:
For periods of 1 to 3 weeks any time during the months of June, July, August, September and October. Longer terms might be considered if you're interested.
