From April 27 – May 2, 2019, 1,600 students (ages 9-13) will participate in our children's education festival that focuses on energy and the environment.
The Kids' World of Energy Festival teaches kids about the science and benefits of renewable energy, conservation, electricity, urban waterways, and stewardship through fun, hands-on activities.
Held at the Evergreen Brick Works, our programming covers a wide range of curriculum-linked subjects – involving sciences, technology and engineering, art, physical education and more.
Dates: April 27 – May 2, 2019
• Tues April 30, Wed May 1 and Thurs May 2 are School Days (school participation only)
• Saturday April 27 is the Community Day (open to the public)
Location: Evergreen Brick Works
550 Bayview Ave. Toronto
• Accessible by TTC, Bicycle, Car and Walking Trails
• Free shuttle bus runs from Broadview Subway Station (offered by Evergreen)
Time: One day commitment
(hours approx. 8:00 AM -- 3:00 PM)

We provide an orientation session a week before the festival and hands-on training each day of the event. You will have ongoing support and guidance from a TREC Education staff member during the festival.

Task: Be a part of a team of 2 to lead an educational workshop throughout the day. Description: Workshops are hands-on, from building model wind turbines, experimenting with solar panels to generating electricity with magnets and copper. You will be working with a class of approximately 20 – 30 students at a time. Duration: 4-5 (30 minute) workshops in one day (30 minute break included)
Water Activity Leader
Task: Work with other volunteers to lead a drop-in station in our Water Activity Zone. Description: The Activities will be focused on water, conservation or the environment, with hands-on materials for the students. Multiple classes will circulate through Water Zone at a time, and small groups will drop-in to various activity stations. Duration: Each activity ranges from 10-15 minutes (breaks provided throughout the day).
Food Prep and General Event Support
Be part of a dedicated group of volunteers who will help prep snacks and serve our volunteers or provide general event support with event logistics as needed by our Organizers.
