VOLUNTEER POSITION

Position: Volunteer Coordinator
Organization: Mayoral Candidate, Sarah Climenhaga
Location: Toronto, Ontario

About Toronto Mayoral Candidate Sarah Climenhaga

My vision is of a liveable city that offers freedom, health and happiness to all residents. A liveable city has great public places and spaces, gives every resident the opportunity to participate fully in all aspects of city life, allows people of all levels of mobility the ability to travel smoothly, safely and efficiently within and throughout the city, and provides a place for all to come home to at the end of the day. I believe our city should have

  • walkable, bikeable and accessible neighbourhoods in the entire city, from Etobicoke to Scarborough, and North York to Lake Ontario
  • housing options throughout the city for all residents, with thriving small businesses, artistic venues, and community services to support them
  • healthy and connected parks and ravines, and a vibrant, accessible waterfront
  • frequent, rapid public transportation that is comfortable and welcoming for all riders
  • stable diverse sources of revenue to support the investment needed to ensure quality of life for residents of all income levels

Toronto is fortunate to have an incredibly diverse, multilingual population and our people have so much to offer. Together, we can build a liveable city for all.

I need a Volunteer Coordinator!

Would you like to play a role in building a better Toronto? I am officially joining the mayoral race as a candidate on May 1, and need help managing a rapidly growing team of volunteers. I am looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to manage ongoing communication with an expanding team of volunteers.

Whether you have recently graduated from high school, or you are retired, or somewhere in between, you should be high energy, highly organized and have experience working with, managing or recruiting volunteers. You must also have excellent communication skills via email and over the phone.

This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity for 2 months, which may be extended to longer (up until October 22, 2018), and an excellent opportunity to build your network and experience. Hours are negotiable, and will start out at 5 hours per week and grow depending on your availability. You can work from home, with regular meetings at varying locations with myself and your team of volunteers.

Volunteer Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Lead the team of volunteers on a regular basis
  • Create and manage a spreadsheet or database of volunteers
  • Cultivate a positive and supportive atmosphere by recognizing volunteer efforts and helping volunteers succeed
  • Regularly communicate with volunteers via email and phone
  • Scheduling
  • Recruiting
  • Coaching
  • Other administration as required
  • Must be a Toronto resident

Send me your cv, references and a cover letter explaining why you would make a great Volunteer Coordinator to: sarahclimenhaga2018@gmail.com
