Position: French Kids Club Assistant
Organization: High Park Nature Centre
Location: High Park, 375 Colborne Lodge Drive, Toronto, Ontario

French Kids Club Assistants will aid our educators in delivering programs to children aged 4 to 6 years old. This program offers children the opportunity to explore High Park and learn about natural history through nature-based and play-based learning completely in French.

Available Positions:
Les Petits Suisses Saturdays 1:00- 4:00 pm (4- 6 years)

What you’ll be doing:

  • Assisting staff to deliver outdoor nature interpretation programs and activities for children aged 6 months to 16 year olds (depending on the club)
  • Role modeling respect and appreciation for the natural world
  • Aiding with set up and clean up before and after the program
  • Assist with the supervision of children while inside the Nature Centre and out on the trails.
  • Participate in club activities and encourage children to participate

What we are looking for:

  • Fluent in BOTH French and English
  • Experience in or interest in working with children in an educational/recreational setting
  • Enthusiasm!
  • Excellent oral communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Dedication to and understanding of environmental issues
  • Ability to climb steep slopes and walk rugged terrain
  • Ability to be outside in all weather conditions (e.g. rain, sunshine, extreme heat)
  • Nature interpretation skills, knowledge of local ecology is a strong asset
  • Must be 15 years of age or older
  • Valid police record check for individuals 18 years and older

Commitment: This position requires a commitment of approximately 3 hours every other week. Fall clubs run from September to December.
