VOLUNTEER POSITION

Position: Drop, Swap and Shop Volunteers
Organization: Evergreen
Location: Downtown Toronto, Don River Valley, Ontario

Yes, it's back! Drop, Swap & Shop | Sunday, October 22nd

Drop, Swap, & Shop is a bi-annual (Spring and Fall) event that challenges visitors to question their consumption and encourages more sustainable purchasing choices. We help you walk the walk, not just talk the talk. Events will include a Swap Mall and programming from our partners: The Toronto Tool Library! Sign up to be the first to know about volunteer roles!

This events aims to inspire Torontonians to:

  • Clear out the clutter.
  • Recycle electronics.
  • Participate in swapping goods at our Swap Mall.
  • See the sharing economy in action with our partners the Toronto Tool Library.
  • Shop reclaimed and up-cycled products direct from the craftspeople who make them.

When & where: The event takes place on Sunday, October 22nd, 2017 from 10am to 4pm at Evergreen Brick Works (EBW), 550 Bayview Ave. Shift times vary with positions.

We hope to make the upcoming Drop, Swap and Shop on October 22nd even more successful and fun! If you are able to help out again, we would greatly appreciate it! Some areas where we could use your help include:

  • Intake (various shifts leading up to the 22nd)
  • Set-Up Crew (2pm-6pm on Saturday, October 21st)
  • Floaters (various shifts on October 22nd)
  • Swap Mall Assistants (various shifts on October 22nd)
  • Welcome/ Ticket Booth Agents (various shifts on October 22nd)
  • Take Down Crew (4-6pm on October 22nd)

Full details online when you sign up for a role. Join us at the orientation on Tuesday October 10th to learn more about Evergreen and how you can help support this exciting event.

How we’ll support you: Volunteers are asked to attend an orientation at Evergreen Brick Works (Tuesday, October 10th from 6:00 pm to 8:00pm). All volunteers will receive an Evergreen orientation package. Support will be provided from staff and other lead volunteers the day of the event.

Perks: You will get a swap ticket to claim your special treasure.You’ll be part of a dynamic team of staff and volunteers working together to make this a super event. You can take pride in knowing that your support is helping to foster a culture of reducing, reusing, and recycling in Toronto.

Good to know: Evergreen runs a free shuttle bus from Broadview subway station, and the 28A Bayview South bus regularly stops at EBW on weekends. How to get here.
