DILA stands for Day of Information for a Lifetime of Action. The goal of the DILA Program is to inspire youth to take action on social and environmental issues. We seek to demonstrate how students can and must play a central role in shaping and building communities, both locally and abroad. During classroom visits DILA facilitators work with students to develop youth’s civic engagement skills by having them identify, research and take action on issues that are relevant to them.
Facilitating an 8 Visit curriculum, the DILA facilitator works with teachers in Grade 10 Civics classes in Ottawa-area High Schools (Ottawa Catholic School Board and Ottawa Carleton District School Board schools). Working with 1-2 sections at any given time, the facilitator is responsible for managing their schedule of visits, completing program evaluation surveys, and reporting to the DILA Program Coordinator.
Program Start/ Terms (4-8 weeks) 2-4 hours a week.
Bilingual candidates an asset. (English/ French/Arabic)
Ideal for Environmental Studies/Science, International Development, and other interdiciplinary students and graduates.
