Come volunteer at Country Fun Nature Camp at Tucker House! Country Fun is a unique environmental day camp for children ages 5-13 that focuses on nurturing children’s love for our environment and everyone in it, in an inclusive faith-based outdoor setting.
What's with the God stuff?
We're ecumenical – what we mean by that is that everyone is welcome, at any stage of their faith journey (even if you're not sure you're journeying in any faith). We teach interactive Bible stories each morning and learn what they tell us about caring for each other and the planet, share prayers with children who need them, and marvel at the miraculous world we live in. Our goals are to welcome, support, and share. We actively invite co-workers and campers who come from different Christian denominations, other faiths, or no faith backgrounds. If you want more information about the spiritual part, we're happy to talk to you!
Ready, Set, Apply!
We are looking for enthusiastic, positive, reliable youth and young adults to be Leaders and Leaders-in-Training. If you love working with kids, being outside, and have positive energy about caring for our planet and all people, we want to hear from you! Our intake continues into late spring and early summer. Applicants selected for interviews will be notified in early June.
Volunteers must commit to being present at mandatory training week July 3 - 8th; it starts on Monday morning for several days in Ottawa, and then includes two overnight stays on-site in Rockland, leaving Saturday after lunch.
Our day camp runs Monday-Friday, 9 am - 4 pm.
Week 1: July 10 - 14th
Week 2: July 17 - 21st
We prioritize Leaders and LITs who can be present for all camp days, but if you can only come for part, just let us know when you apply.
Leaders and LITs need to be at the bus pick up points in advance - we offer a free camp bus each day, leaving from Bethany Baptist/Nepean, Parkdale, St. Laurent Mall, and Place D'Orleans. We'll confirm pick up times and bus duties in advance. Rockland-area staff must be on-site by 8:45 am and stay until children are picked up.
You will need a Police Records Check for working with vulnerable populations before you can work with us or any children's program or camp. Why? Because you will be working with children, in a position of trust. Police records checks are part of our process, and are also the law.
Most of our positions are for volunteers only. Returning or experienced Leaders may be eligible for a weekly stipend; limited paid positions may be available and are dependent upon qualifications. See our website at http://www.maisontuckerhouse.ca for current job postings.
