VOLUNTEER POSITION

Position: Resilience Festival Event volunteers
Organization: Transition Guelph
Location: Guelph, Ontario

Transition Guelph is a group of citizens coming together as volunteers to promote processes and projects for strengthening community resilience and economic vitality. We’re currently looking for 12-15 event volunteers to support us in running our 2018 Resilience Festival. Volunteer opportunities will be available for the evenings of March 22nd and 23rd, and all day March 24th.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Event volunteers are needed in several areas:
  • Postering: we need people to help put up posters around Guelph and to deliver guidebooks to local businesses and organizations
  • Event Support: set-up and clean up of event spaces for events, welcoming guests at the welcome table, asking for donations, asking for newsletter sign-ups, selling raffle tickets answering visitor questions and helping to direct people

Qualifications

  • Outgoing and enthusiastic
  • Reliable
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Customer service experience a bonus
  • Knowledge of environmental issues, community resilience a bonus

Commitment

Poster volunteers will be asked to commit to 3 hours, and must be willing and able to travel within Guelph.

Event volunteers are usually asked to commit to a 4 hour shift on the weekend of the Festival.

Benefits

This position provides hands-on experience for individuals interested in event planning, particularly in the non-profit, environmental or community development sectors. The position would especially suit people with a passion for environmental issues, sustainability, community and resilience. Volunteers have the opportunity to connect with others who care about sustainability while helping Transition Guelph reach its goal of promoting a healthier, more resilient community.
