Organization: Bridging Borders - Edmonton

Bridging Borders is a government registered, nonprofit organization that embodies intersectional approaches to facilitating sustainable programs that span socioeconomic, cultural and educational borders within local and global communities. Our work follows diversity and inclusions best practices, embracing the diverse nature and needs of all communities. Whether it involves delivering donated winter clothing to the homeless, facilitating academic assistance to children living in shelters, or opening free pop-up stores for accessible and ethical shopping experiences, our goal is informed by a holistic approach to volunteer service. We believe that by empowering all communities and supporting all peoples we will make incremental gains towards building a more equitable society. 

We are aiming to fully launch the Bridging Borders Edmonton Chapter in June 2020, and we're looking for a dedicated and passionate team to facilitate events and programs that fulfill our mission statement!

Below are descriptions of the volunteer positions we're looking to recruit for. If you have any questions or suggestions, please reach out to us at


  • VP Internal Governance — Manage team relations, internal conflicts, onboarding new members or volunteers etc.
  • VP External Affairs and Outreach Officers — Deliver the Bridging Borders mandate to the public and facilitate programs and services locally and internationally.
  • VP Logistics (Operations Coordinator) — Develop efficient processes to take care of any logistics associated with a special event or a delivery of program/service.
  • VP Marketing — Oversee the organization's marketing campaigns both internally and externally and play a key part in communicating the organization's marketing message. Design key web pages.
  • VP Communications and Public Relations Specialist — Write and distribute content to promote the organization's activities or services/programs to act as a liaison between the organization, the public, and the media and ensure that Bridging Borders remains top of mind.
  • VP of Finance — Create financial plans as defined by the board of directors as well as direct financing strategies, analysis, forecasting and budget management.
  • Fundraising and Sponsorship Team — Coordinate various fundraising tasks on behalf of the organization and create different strategies for effective fundraising. Identify fundraising opportunities and present these findings in meetings. Take care of strategies for implementation and development and assist with the management of outreach initiatives.
  • VP of Program Development  — Develop programs and make sure their guidelines and procedures are respected and kept up-to-date
  • Program and Event Coordination Team — Coordinate the programs and events by making sure to structure and prepare the implementation of the programs that are developed by the Program Development Team. Coordinate and communicate with stakeholders in order to implement events.
  • Volunteer Coordination Team — Build a volunteer database that we would be able to contact should we need help setting an event or program. Also, promote BB and get as many members involved in the community.
  • Member at Large — Does not have a specific or define role, serves as a liaison to the general membership, fills other board duties as required.
