VOLUNTEER POSITION

Position: Volunteer Wildlife Hotline Operator
Organization: Procyon Wildlife
Location: Beeton, Ontario (north of Toronto / west of Newmarket) 

We are seeking dedicated and passionate volunteers to run shifts for our wildlife hotline, answering wildlife calls from the public.

You will gain insight into the operations of a wildlife centre and gain valuable experience in community relations and working with wildlife. You will join a fantastic team of staff and volunteers committed to educating the public on wildlife issues and providing medical and rehabilitative care to sick, injured and orphaned wildlife, with the goal of releasing healthy animals back into the wild.

Answering Phones

  • Phones continually ring especially during baby season. Volunteers will play an important role by answering phones, taking messages and ensuring that situations of concern are dealt with immediately, as well as arranging pickups for wildlife in distress if needed. You would screen calls to be sure the animal is in need of care, give advice and educate callers on dealing with wildlife situations. As well as assist in admitting sick, injured and orphaned wildlife to the center with volunteers on site.

Requirements:

  • Commitment to at least one shift per week, on a continuing basis weekly with the same shift.
  • Shift are available every day of the week Monday through Sunday, you would be responsible for one 6-hour shift per week. There are two shift times per day: 8:00 AM- 2:00 PM OR 2:00 PM- 8:00 PM
