VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

Positions: Volunteer Neighbourhood Manager
Organization: Lettuce Harvest Foundation
Location: Vancouver, BC

Lettuce Harvest is looking for three Neighbourhood Managers to facilitate our three farmyard nodes in East Vancouver (each manager responsible for one neighbourhood; Hastings-Sunrise, Templeton & Trout Lake). A good neighbourhood manager is organized, works well in a team and is passionate about food justice and urban agriculture. Neighbourhood managers are responsible for the behind the scenes operations of each neighbourhood, and will be the first point of contact for member farmers and yard providers. While the majority of this work can be done from home with flexible hours, familiarity and access to the specific neighborhood is required.

About Lettuce Harvest

Lettuce Harvest is a youth run non-profit based in East Vancouver that sees increasing local production of fruits and vegetables as one of the best ways to create resilient, climate friendly communities. Our model redefines the typical idea of a community garden, by focusing on working collectively. Using front and back yard space donated by community members, we help volunteer gardeners work together to produce a harvest. This food is then distributed amongst the neighbourhood volunteers and homeowners, with all excess food being donated to local community groups feeding those most in need.

Key Details

• Location: Virtual with opportunity for some in person, outdoor work
• Commitment: 8-10 hours per week (including .75 hour team meeting)
• Application Deadline: April 15, 2021
• Start Date: ASAP

Responsibilities

• Supervising yard kits & transcribing notes
• Supervising Work Party Leads
• Coordinating Volunteer schedules
• Monitoring attendance sheet from work party leads; Reporting success to leadership
• Manage slack channel

Qualifications

• Experience managing programing and volunteers with a non-profit organization or community group
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Works well individually and as part of a team
• Skilled at relationship building
• Proficient working with Google Workspace and Slack

Assets

• Strong knowledge of urban food production/indigenous food production knowledge/permaculture/regenerative farming
• Drivers license and access to a vehicle
