Position: Board Member
Type: non-profit board of directors (unpaid/volunteer)
Location: Victoria, British Columbia
Mosqoy is a grassroots organization that works towards global sustainability and resilience by empowering local culture. We work with rural Quechua populations in the Andean mountains of Peru. We believe in empowering local communities through international solidarity and networking, sharing stories of celebration, struggle, and strength.
Mosqoy is seeking new members to serve on its Board of Directors in the following capacities:
Mosqoy is a registered Canadian charitable organization that works in remote communities of the Peruvian Andes, promoting opportunities for economic development while nurturing their threatened indigenous Quechua culture. We operate two social enterprises that support our three main programs: the Q’ente Textile Program, which supports indigenous communities and women weavers by revitalizing textile traditions and selling their fair-trade products; the T’ikary Youth Program, which offers promising youth of the region opportunities for post-secondary education; and the Mink’a Knowledge Exchange Program, which encourages responsible travel and consumption in the Global North (like Canada) through courses, workshops, and our Mosqoy Field School. Remuneration: As per Canadian charitable law, all Board positions are unpaid volunteer positions.
Application Deadline: Applications will be reviewed on a continual basis, and the positions will remain open until a suitable candidate is chosen.
