Position: Classroom Volunteer
Organization: Growing Chefs!
Location: Vancouver, British Columbia
Growing Chefs! runs a Classroom Gardening and Cooking Program in elementary schools to reconnect kids to their food and get them excited about growing, cooking, and eating good, healthy food. We believe in the importance of connecting young children to their food through hands-on learning, getting their hands in the dirt, and teaching them how their food choices impact their personal health and the health of the environment.
Volunteering is great leadership experience in a classroom environment, learn about gardening and cooking along with the students through hands-on interactive activities and games, a great way to meet others passionate about good, healthy food, and to share your knowledge and passion with young students and grow the local food community We work in elementary schools all across Metro Vancouver and pair volunteers with a school near them.
Knowledge of gardening and/or cooking an asset but not required as we provide full training. Sign up on our website to join us this April.
How it works
The commitment works out to about 4 hours/month... do-able for most volunteers!
