GARDEN PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Needed: Garden Program Volunteers
Organization: Green Thumbs Growing Kids
Location: downtown Toronto, Ontario
Do you like gardening? or want to learn? Do you enjoy spending time with children and in green spaces? Do you like outdoor or indoor work? If you answered yes to one, some, or all of these questions, this Volunteer Program is for you!
At Green Thumbs, we want to empower urban children, youth and their families to learn about, grow and prepare fresh foods, cultivated in an environmentally sustainable manner, in hands-on programs.
Our vision is of healthy communities with learning gardens everywhere!
Join our wonderful team where you will take part of programs on school and park grounds, indoors or outdoors, in gardens, greenhouses or classrooms -depending on the season. Engage in hands-on work that can assist children in their learning about where food comes from!
Programs are offered at various sites throughout the neighbourhoods of St. James Town, Cabbagetown and Regent Park in downtown Toronto.

Use your talents and skills for your personal growth.
Develop new skills, eg: Group Facilitation, Working with children, Urban Agriculture, Food Systems, Food Justice, Organic Gardening, Cooking, etc.
Certificate of Appreciation are provided once the time commitment of 2 hours per week for 6-8 weeks is completed.
In addition, a letter of reference will be provided if requested, the details of which are at the discretion of the Volunteer Coordinator.
Volunteers can get a free membership where they can have access to events, free seedlings, free plants and discounts on services from our social enterprise!
To keep in mind:
Volunteer program time commitment of at least 2 hours per week for 6-8 weeks is requested.
All volunteers must be willing to consent to a police reference check for Working with Vulnerable Persons.
Green Thumbs volunteers are expected to follow the Occupational Health & Safety Policy, the Anti-Harassment and Anti-Discrimination Policy and the Confidentiality Agreement as set by Green Thumbs Growing Kids Board of Directors.
