Do you love getting outdoors in the winter? Passionate about leading an active lifestyle all year round? Join our Winter Active Living Team at Evergreen Brick Works as we deliver fun winter programming, including skating and hiking! We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support our winter programming and work in leadership roles with our other volunteers.
Once you become a part of the Active Living Volunteer Team, you can support our winter programs through one or more of the roles below:
Skate Rink Attendant (click here): Help our rink run smoothly this winter as you activate the skate desk and ensure visitors are having fun! *Must be comfortable skating, or learning to skate
Learn to Skate Assistant (click here): Join our skate team and help coach children and adults as they learn to skate at Evergreen Brick Works! Help make these lessons enriching and fun for all learners! *Must have strong skating skills (including stopping, skating forward/backward, & crossovers)
Winter Hike Assistant (click here): Help support winter hikes through the Don River Valley as we encourage Torontonians to lace up, stay active, and explore nature in the city!
Winter Living Ambassador (click here): Share your love of the outdoors and winter activities with visitors as you help animate our skate desk/curling rink and be an ambassador for all things winter at Evergreen! *Must have strong communication skills
What you bring:
How we’ll support you: Volunteers will attend an orientation and training sessions to help you prepare for your preferred role. Training will give you all the tools you need to support the programs and interact with participants with confidence. Staff will be present for all programs, but there are plenty of opportunities for volunteers to take on leadership roles, if they wish.
When & Where:
Active Living programs are based out of Evergreen Brick Works at 550 Bayview Avenue. Volunteers are asked to join us for a mandatory orientation on:
Volunteer shifts are role dependent, but will generally take place between December through March. Depending on the role, shifts may take place on mornings or evenings, through the week or on weekends. Find out more details by clicking on the roles above as well as at the orientation session.
