Organization: Climate Smart Agriculture Youth Network
Location: anywhere in Canada

Various positions available for Canadian Chapter of United Nations affiliated “Climate Smart Agriculture Youth Network”.

Home base located near Toronto. Members may also volunteer remotely.

Who is the Climate Smart Agriculture Youth Network (CSAYN)?

We are an international movement officially in 19 countries around the world supported by the United Nations and inspired by the Sustainable Development Goals ( ). We aim to bring climate smart agriculture practices to all corners of the globe and inspire youth to become involved in climate smart agriculture practices. We believe that there is strength in numbers and hope to connect the many like minded groups and individuals to our network to make climate smart practices, techniques and resources available to all who wish to promote positive changes for the future. We are seeking to fill various positions to help our establishment in Canada. Duties of various roles can be discussed upon expression of interest to see where you can fit within our chapter.

Board members:

All board members will be responsible for working collaboratively with other members and to help in the planning and execution of events and expected to attend monthly board meetings in person or remotely.

Major Tasks Include:

  • Helping to establish not-for-profit status
  • Helping to network with like minded groups and establish connections and relationships
  • Promoting the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) to local communities
  • Drive and inspire local agricultural change

Available Roles:

1) Vice President

  • Liase with President and other board members about chapter organization and implementation
  • Participate in board meetings and help with establishment
  • Maintain and build relationships with other partners
  • Assist with the establishment of not-for-profit status

2) Chief Financial Officer

  • Assist with the establishment of not-for-profit status
  • Handle funding requests and implement economic procedures

3) Executive Officer

  • Assist with the establishment of not-for-profit status
  • Assist with creation of protocols for gardens and events
  • Assist with in house documentation and procedures

4) Media and Promotions Coordinator

  • Manage social media accounts
  • Liase with the Global Collective Unit and distribute materials to our networks
  • Create posters and other medias for distribution
  • Liase with partners for promotion of events, workshop and information sessions

Personal Suitability:

  • Likes to make things happen
  • Personally connects with people
  • Works well in a team environment and possesses strong communication skills
  • Doesn’t mind getting their hands dirty... for positive change
  • Has a passion or interest in climate smart gardening/ agriculture

We are also seeking volunteers to generally:

  • Help with the execution of various events
  • Assist with garden preparation, maintenance, planting, etc.
