The Volunteer’s Role

We’re looking for a motivated and dedicated volunteer to help Takiwasi share the special energy of its Amazonian herbal infusions!

As part of this ethical BioTrade project, you will be tasked with identifying target markets in Lima and other regions of Peru, as well as carrying out a customer profile. This will help Takiwasi better understand current and potential customers, so the lab can increase sales and continue to grow its business. You will also contribute to strengthening Takiwasi’s marketing and communications strategies. These are all key to helping the lab become a sustainable community-driven social enterprise!

During your volunteer placement, you will be based the Cuso International office in Lima, Peru’s bustling capital known as the “City of Kings”, and may travel occasionally to the Amazon rainforest and other regions. You will work closely with Takiwasi’s dynamic team of biochemists, pharmaceutical chemists, agro industrial engineers, anthropologists, business administrators and more!

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Carry out a customer analysis or profile
  • Conduct a market opportunity survey
  • Draft report about market research findings
  • Put together a marketing and communications strategy to position and differentiate Takiwasi’s products (e.g. ethical BioTrade, valorization of indigenous knowledge and conservation of biological diversity) in order to attract and retain selected customer segments

Essential Academic Qualifications:

  • University degree in Business and Administration, Market Research, Social Enterprise Development, Economics, or related field of study

Essential Professional Background:

  • 3-5 years professional experience undertaking market research projects
  • Experience using Market Research Methodologies

  • Travel and accommodation for reintegration debriefing weekend

  • Cuso International assessment day (Candidates must cover the first $200 of the most cost-effective travel expenses and all accommodation costs).
  • Travel and accommodation for the five-day pre-departure training course and for in-country orientation
