Company description

EBC is a registered charity. Its mission is:

  • to establish, maintain and manage a system of nature reserves in the area of the Niagara Escarpment (including the Niagara Escarpment World Biosphere Reserve), including the maintenance of physical features of scientific and/or ecological, cultural, historic or scenic interest; to maintain, enhance or restore areas of native species or natural habitat and; to encourage and support scientific research and educational services related thereto
  • to educate the public about conservation and preservation of the landscape, ecology and wildlife of the Niagara Escarpment, partly through providing low impact, ecologically sustainable recreational opportunities, which complement and do not substantially conflict with our primary objective.
  • EBC is the largest Ontario focussed land trust with 184 nature reserves on 14758 acres with 63 species at risk and sequestering over 70,000 tonnes of carbon each year, 18 ½ kms of Lake Huron shore, over 80 kms. of trails and used by over 25,000 hikers every year.

We achieve our goal by:

  • acquisition of lands for conservation through purchase or donation
  • establishing conservation agreements
  • fundraising for the above

Job description

Reporting to EBC’s Community Outreach and Environmental Coordinator, the volunteer social media distributor will support the EBC community to grow together.

The social media distributors will use their discretion to review, ‘like’, ‘share’, comment on, EBC posts on platforms, which may include: LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter at the moment.


  1. Like/Share/Distribute already curated social media content.
  2. Identify gaps in our content and recommend new topics
  3. Stay up-to-date with developments and generate new ideas to draw audience’s attention
  4. Help ensure consistency
  5. Provide suggestions with a view to improving the overall effort.

Ideal candidates are purpose-driven and want to make the world a better place by encouraging conservation.

Must haves:

  • Social Media proficient (have accounts on Facebook/Instagram/Twitter/LinkedIn)
  • Passionate to make an impact
  • A love for the environment
  • Able to express what works well and what not so well in social media

Nice to haves:

  • Experience volunteer or work experience using social media for non-profits or business (strongly preferred)
  • Graphic design sense

If this is your first time volunteering, that’s fine.

Commitment: 1 to 3 hours per week (a half day maximum)
