Position: Volunteer Communications Coordinator
Organization: Drizzle Environmental Society
Location: from home, anywhere in Canada

Founded in 2014, Drizzle Environmental Society is a volunteer-run non-profit organization with a mission to create an active, informed global community of youth committed to a greener future.

We provide programs and initiatives in schools, in our communities and online that:

  • Engage youth and inspire them to take positive action in their communities;
  • Increase knowledge of environmental issues that affect our planet and humanity's future; and
  • Provide opportunities for youth to connect with nature

Role Description

The Communications Coordinator is responsible for managing and growing Drizzle’s social and digital media presence by creating, curating, and posting engaging content across all of our social media platforms, as well as assisting with traditional communications and media relations tasks.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Managing and growing Drizzle’s social and digital media presence
  • Creating, curating, and posting engaging content across our social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
  • Assisting with the writing and distribution of our e-newsletter
  • Writing environmentally-themed editorial content for Drizzle's new blog
  • Assisting with the growth and development of the organization's main initiatives, as needed

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with digital media, preferably for a non-profit or social enterprise
  • Sound knowledge of environmental issues facing British Columbia, Canada, and the world
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work well individually or as part of a team
  • Ability to use and familiarity with Hootsuite
  • Having experience in the management of high-profile social media accounts, an asset
  • Having experience in graphic design, photography, and/or videography, an asset

Commitment

Volunteers are expected to commit to approximately 8-12 hours per week on an ongoing basis
