Position: Seamster/Seamstress
Organization: Stanley Park Ecology Society
Location: Vancouver, British Columbia

SPES is currently seeking a volunteer who can implement their sewing skills to assist with the general repair and maintenance of SPES clothing and equipment.

Time commitment

This role can be very flexible. The volunteer may set their own schedule, and work from home if desired (volunteer will be responsible for visiting office to pick-up and drop-off completed products on a timely basis). The suggested amount of time per week is approximately two hours.


Examples of duties may include:

  • Sewing damaged safety vests used by Conservation volunteers
  • Attaching new Velcro strips and zippers to replace damaged ones
  • Sewing SPES logos onto clothing and materials


  • Gain valuable volunteer hours and experience
  • Reference letter or other forms of reference as desired by the volunteer (after 30 hours of service)


  • Access to own sewing machine (SPES will provide all other necessary materials)
  • Strong sewing skills
  • Must be 14 years of age or older
  • Reliable and committed to the role
