Position: Outreach Lead Coordinator

Volunteer Description:

We are seeking an enthusiastic volunteer with great communication and interpersonal skills to help us build a new, vibrant, and sustainable Outreach Team for Green Neighbours Network (GNN) of Toronto.

The role of the Outreach Team is to grow the network by encouraging individuals and existing green groups and organizations to become participating GNN members. As Outreach Lead Coordinator you will work with the Volunteer Coordinator to recruit and train a team of five outreach coordinators, one in each key area of the city: Etobicoke, North York, Scarborough, East York and Toronto. As Lead Coordinator, you will develop for their use an outreach plan, email templates, and other materials with assistance from the GNN Communications Team. As the network grows, the Outreach Team will use their relationships with new and existing members to encourage engagement and participation in GNN with the help of materials developed by the GNN Mentoring Team.

Volunteer Tasks:

  • Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to recruit and train a team of 5 outreach coordinators, one in each key area of the city: Etobicoke, North York, Scarborough, East York and Toronto.
  • Develop an outreach plan, email templates, and other materials with assistance from the GNN Communications team.
  • Encourage engagement and participation in GNN with support from the GNN Mentoring team.

Preferred Skills:

  • Enjoys meeting new people.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; provides tact and sensitivity towards other people.
  • Good speaking and writing skills in English are essential, and other language skills would be a definite additional asset.

Orientation and Training

The Outreach Lead Coordinator will follow an onboarding process and will be supported by the GNN Steering Committee members throughout the entire duration of the outreaching activities.

Time Commitment

4-8 hours a week for 8-12 months.
