Help children learn mountain biking skills on Toronto trails and connect with nature in the Don Valley!
Bike Ventures Assistants will work alongside experienced staff to lead mountain bike programming for campers aged 8-12 years old. Primary tasks include assisting with supervision on rides, teaching mountain bike skills, and modeling cycling etiquette on the trails.
What You Bring:
*NOTE: Police Checks will be initiated and paid for by Evergreen, as part of the screening process.
Your Commitment: Bike Ventures Assistants must commit to at least two full weeks of camp. Camp runs for 9 weeks from July 3rd to August 31st. Shifts are from 8:30 AM-4:30 PM or 9 AM-5 PM, Monday to Friday (excluding holiday Mondays).
Special Note: There are only two Bike Ventures Assistant positions open per week. During the phone interview, you will be asked which two weeks (or more) you can commit to. In addition to your preferred weeks, please provide us with a ‘back-up’ week, in case one of your preferred weeks reaches capacity. If this situation arises, we will work with you to create a schedule that suits both your needs and the needs of Bike Ventures Mountain Bike Camp.
Camp Location: Bike Ventures Mountain Bike Camp takes place at Evergreen Brick Works (550 Bayview Ave) with bike programming happening on-site and in adjacent City of Toronto parks and ravines. Evergreen runs a free daily shuttle bus to the site from Broadview subway station. In addition, the Beltline Trail, Milkman’s Lane, and the new Bayview bike lane make Evergreen accessible by bike.
How We’ll Support You: There will be mandatory training sessions from June 24-28, 2018 at Evergreen Brick Works.
Accessibility Statement: Evergreen welcomes volunteer applications from persons of diverse backgrounds and is an equal opportunity organization. Accommodation will be provided as required under Evergreens Accommodation policy. Please make your needs known in advance.
