Position: English to French Translator

Slow Food in Canada is looking for translators to help translate written communication pieces from English into French. This is a volunteer position that requires an average of 1-2 hours of commitment per week. This work is very flexible and it can happen wherever and whenver it is most convenient for you.
What is Slow Food?
Slow Food is an international grassroots organization that promotes good, clean and fair food. It was initially founded in 1986 in Italy by Carlo Petrini to fight against fast food. Since then it is has spread worldwide and there are over 100,000 members in 160 countries. Slow Food has been active in different regions in Canada for more than 10 years, with a particularly strong presence in Montreal, Ontario and British Columbia. During this time, Slow Food has become one of the most important bilingual food organizations in Canada. The Slow Food in Canada network consists of farmers, food producers, chefs, educators and food activists from across the country.
What does the translation work entail?
We’re looking for a Translator who can translate social media posts, monthly e-newsletters, bi-weekly website blog posts and press releases. Translators will be given a minimum of 48 hours to translate written pieces and in some cases up to a week depending on the size of the task. We have a group of translators, so you are always able to decline translating if your schedule does not allow you the time to complete the task.
After volunteering for 20 hours, you'll receive a Slow Food membership and discounted rates to National Events
