Position: Digital Media / Marketing Director / Innovator
Organization: Canoe Foundation (launching new foundation)
Work location: anywhere in the Golden Horseshoe (home office), occasional meetings in GTHA, Ontario
Start Date: Immediately
This position offers a unique opportunity to be on the ground floor as we launch the digital media and marketing enterprise of Canoe Foundation and our innovative fund raising and funding initiative. Assist in shaping and influencing our way forward. Nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something.
We believe that we can make a contribution to change the world for a better future.
We support people and organizations actively working for a peaceful, healthy and green future.
We believe that our future depends on the public’s grasp and engagement with the most important questions of the day. It will take the commitment of the global village to meet the challenge presented by escalating climate change.
To influence and support the fundamental changes necessary in our ways of living to ensure a safe and equitable future.
To provide support to those on the front lines bringing about the change for a better world, particularly those in the most vulnerable communities.
Most Indigenous communities are on the front lines of climate change… they know it is no distant or abstract threat. They understand that there is a disconnection between people and their surroundings… that we have been overtaken by a culture of consumerism… that humanity needs to be redirected toward the spiritual, above the material. We need greater respect for the natural world. We need to relearn how to co-exist with wildlife…. to better understand our place in the natural order.
We’re here to support Indigenous Peoples to be leaders in the movement for sustainable and effective solutions to climate change, addressed from a human rights perspective…an Indigenous rights perspective…and a gender equality perspective.
We have positioned Canoe Foundation to be a philanthropic ally of those working to equip Indigenous communities with the right tools and education needed to ensure Indigenous knowledge is a driving force in climate solutions.
Qualifications and Experience
The most important qualification is an enthusiasm and commitment to making a difference to finding solutions to the climate crisis by providing support to those Indigenous communities who are not only feeling the brunt of climate change but are actively providing leadership in the movement for sustainable and effective solutions to climate change.
You’ll know if you have the technical skills to fulfill the mandate as outlined in the job description.
You’ll bring a wide range of experience and insight into many aspects of the digital media and marketing field.
“You cannot do all the good the world needs, but the world needs all the good you can do.”
“More and more people are beginning to realize that we want to die knowing we’ve made a difference”
We believe this will provide you with the opportunity to do all the good you can do, and in doing so, make a difference.
The position is part time…working from your home office.
The position is as a volunteer, but there will be opportunities to participate in some travel if desired, in the execution of our fund raising initiative.
