VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

Position: Communications workgroup members
Organization: Halton Food Council
Location: Oakville, GTA, Ontario

The Halton Food Council (HFC) is an independent, volunteer-based non-profit organization representing a broad range of sectors and interests across the food system in Halton Region. Our mission is to promote and support a sustainable local food system and to inspire people into action.

POSITIONS

The Halton Food Council is seeking committed individuals to join our communications workgroup:

  • Newsletter Manager
  • Website and Social Media Manager
  • WordPress Technical Support

NEWSLETTER MANAGER

Responsibilities

  • Send e-mails and e-newsletters using MailChimp
  • Update the design of e-mails and e-newsletters as required
  • Contribute to the content of e-mails and e-newsletters
  • Track MailChimp performance and prepare reports as required

Qualifications

  • Very knowledge about MailChimp with proven experience
  • Post-secondary education in communications, journalism or equivalent would be an asset
  • Knowledge of agri-food issues
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Works well both independently and with others

Time Commitment

  • The member must be able to attend one (2-hour) monthly meeting and devote approximately 3-4 hours per month depending on the task.

WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER

Responsibilities

  • Update the WordPress website content, calendar, and design
  • Manage the Council’s social media channels (Facebook, Twitter)
  • Tracking website traffic

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated strong WordPress, Facebook, and Twitter skills
  • Post-secondary education in communications, journalism or equivalent would be an asset
  • Knowledge of agri-food issues
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of HootSuite would be an asset
  • Works well both independently and with others

Time Commitment

  • The member must be able to attend one (2-hour) monthly meeting and devote 3-4 hours per month depending on the task.

WORDPRESS TECHNICAL SUPPORT

Responsibilities

  • Provide WordPress technical support as required

Qualifications

  • Very knowledge about WordPress
  • Knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, and MailChimp would be an asset
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Works well both independently and with others

Time Commitment

  • Will vary depending on the task.
