Volunteer Description:

We are seeking a friendly, energetic, creative and detail-oriented Social Media Moderator and Content Creator.

The role includes the creation of timely and appropriate content for our social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn (existing) and Instagram (coming soon).

The Social Media Moderator and Content Creator will also analyze, review and report on the effectiveness of GNN’s posts and pages. Our goal is to increase our target audience and the engagement of GNN members in creating a greener city.

Volunteer Tasks:

  • Create the GNN Facebook group page and the rules to be followed by its members.
  • Create content and moderate the comments from Facebook group page members.
  • Publish, share and/or re-tweet green-related posts or events organized by GNN group members and GNN city-wide partners.
  • Post relevant green articles and news on GNN social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn (existing) and Instagram (coming soon).
  • Analyze and report on the effectiveness of the posts.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience as a content creator and moderator
  • Expertise in a variety of social media platforms
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Solid interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Understanding of social media metrics; able to interpret results and take action to increase effectiveness of posts.
  • Knowledge about environmental issues.

Orientation and Training:

The Communications Volunteer: Social Media Moderator and Content Creator will follow an onboarding process and will be supported by the GNN Steering Committee members throughout the entire duration of their volunteer work.

Time Commitment:

2-4 hours a week for 3-6 months with possibility of extension.
