Type: all-expenses paid volunteer initiative that runs from late July to late February

Want to change the world? Start in your community!

Youth taking charge of climate and sustainability solutions — that’s what Co-Creating a Sustainable BC is all about! Young people aged 16-30 from all walks of life are encouraged to apply! As a participant, you will deepen your understanding of sustainability in your region through three lenses (social, economic, and environmental), and take what you’ve learned to design and implement a youth-led project that will have a direct and positive impact in your community. Your ideas, opinions, and experiences matter, and if you’re seeking to make a difference, go for it! By the end of CCSBC, you will walk away feeling confident in your ability to advocate for change and the power that you have in realizing a shared vision of a healthy and thriving community.

We are currently recruiting young people (16-30 years old) from the following regions:

  • Cowichan Valley (Duncan and surrounding communities)
  • Fraser Valley (Langley to Agassiz)
  • North-Central BC (Prince George and surrounding communities)
  • Thompson (Kamloops and surrounding communities)

CCSBC is an all-expenses paid volunteer initiative that runs from late July to late February, and we will be kicking off this year with a group camping trip at Educo Adventure School. Throughout the initiative, participants can expect to allocate ~15h / month to engage in a mixture of online dialogue sessions, in-person meetings, outdoor field trips, and exciting trips and events in different parts of BC.

Participants will:

  • Collaborate and form meaningful relationships with other youth who care about the environment and community
  • Learn from and network with leaders in your region and across the province doing exciting work around sustainability and climate change
  • Activate your community through a youth-led sustainability project
  • Strengthen skills in project coordination and implementation like planning, communications, budgeting, and much more
  • Build bonds and connect with the land and waters through outdoor-based learning trips (all expenses paid!)
