Location: Greater Toronto-Hamilton Area / GTHA, Ontario
Eligibility: Greater Toronto Hamilton Area resident, age 19-25

Become a Climate Leader in your community!

Youth Challenge International’s Youth Climate Leadership Program provides youth in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA), aged 19-25, the opportunity to grow leadership skills, network with peers, and create climate action initiatives in their communities.

YCI’s 6-month Youth Climate Leadership Program is designed to support youth to become Climate Leaders in their communities and lead a team of peers to create and catalyze community-based climate action projects to help shape a climate-resilient GTHA.

YCI is currently accepting applications for Climate Leaders for the Youth Climate Leadership Program. The program will run in a cohort-based model with 4 cycles throughout the year. These small cohorts allow for collaborative peer-learning, and one on one coaching and mentorship so that Climate Leaders are in a supportive environment to reach their goals.

Climate Leaders will:

Grow skills through leadership training on youth mobilization, project design, and community development as well as climate science and climate communications.

Design and implement new climate solutions with access to exclusive resources including customized coaching, mentorship, peer-to-peer, and funding support.

Join a climate action network of 200+ youth and change-makers across the GTHA to learn with and support each other to make an impact in your communities.

You’ll fit right in if you:

  • Want to make a real impact on climate change in your community.
  • Want to learn and grow your climate action leadership skills.
  • Are excited about engaging other like-minded young people and leading a team to take action.
  • Are dedicated and dependable with availability on evenings and some weekends to actively participate in training sessions.

Eligibility:

  • You are 19-25 years old
  • You live in the Greater Toronto Hamilton Area (GTHA)
  • You want to build skills and become a Climate Leader in your community.

Time Commitment:

2 hours of virtual training sessions will be held on Tuesdays from 5:30-7:30 PM. For the first 2 months of the program, these sessions will be weekly and then staggered biweekly for the remainder of the program. There will be one half-day weekend Leadership Development session. Expect about 3-5 hours weekly for asynchronous learning and project implementation which participants will manage based on their schedule.

How to apply:

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis as they are received. Successful applicants will be contacted within a week to schedule a group interview. Spaces are limited, so submit early and do not miss the chance to participate in this unique experience!

Winter/Spring programming begins the week of March 1st, 2021. For more information about Youth Challenge International’s Youth Climate Leadership Program, visit youthclimateaction.ca.
