Positions: Butt Blitz Team Coordinators
Organization: A Greener Future
Location: virtual, anywhere in Canada

Ready to kick some butt? We are looking for Team Coordinators to take part in our Butt Blitz Event.

Ready to make a positive impact on the environment in your community?

We are looking for 30 Butt Blitz team coordinators in different towns/cities across Canada on a mission to help clean up harmful cigarette butt litter while also raising awareness and educating their communities.

The month-long Butt Blitz event will run from April 1st - 30th, and through teams of 10 local volunteers, we hope to reach the goal of picking up 1 million butts from the environment across Canada!

Usually, our Butt Blitz event is a one-day event where everyone gathers together to pick up butts, but the pandemic has changed everything. This year we'll be picking up independently, and staying connected virtually. We will provide all the necessary supplies as well as safety training to ensure everyone participating stays safe.

Coordinator responsibilities:

  • Complete virtual Butt Blitz Coordinator Training
  • Participate in cigarette butt cleanups to contribute to the individual goal of 5,000 butts and overall team goal of 1 million butts
  • Coordinate a team of 10 local volunteers throughout April
  • Attend weekly team meetings via Zoom (6 in total, max 30 minutes in length)
  • Choose a central location for volunteers to drop off collected butts (e.g. your front porch)
  • Give support to volunteers on your team by answering questions and keeping in contact throughout the month
  • Coordinate a team meetup (COVID-19 permitting)
  • Distribute PPE and equipment to volunteers on your team (provided by A Greener Future)
  • Speak with the media about the event should the possibility arrive

This opportunity will require approximately 3-5 hours per week throughout the month of April. Collected cigarette butts will be recycled through TerraCycle Canada. All participants must be over 19 years of age. After responding to this opportunity, selected candidates will be contacted for an interview to ensure that the role is a good fit.
