Position: Cider Squad
Organization: Not Far From the Tree
Location: Toronto, Ontario

Not Far From The Tree, a project of Tides Canada Initiatives Society, puts Toronto’s abundance of local fruit to good use by picking and sharing the bounty. We engage and mobilize Torontonians to steward the food-producing trees in our urban forest. Our innovative and award-winning programs promote urban ecology, activate local food and build community.

Position Summary: Attention Cider lovers everywhere! Not Far From The Tree is looking for enthusiastic and apple loving volunteers to be part of our Cider Squad.

Members of the Cider Squad will join us at Farmers Markets throughout the summer and our Annual City Cider celebration in September (exact date tbh). As part of the Cider Squad, you will have the magical ability to turn apples in delicious cider!

No experience making cider? Not to worry-Training will be provided.

Qualifications:

  • Friendly and enthusiastic

  • Eager to learn about all things cider

  • Comfortable talking and interacting with members of the community

Responsibilities:

  • Attend Cider Squad training

  • Join us at the Not Far From The Tree table at Farmers markets and our City Cider event

  • Demonstrate and make cider using the cider press

  • Engaging with the community

Perks:

  • Attending fun Farmers’ Markets and other events

  • Becoming trained in making delicious and fresh cider

  • A chance to build community, and contribute to food security and environmental sustainability in your own neighbourhood
