Position: Rattlesnake field intern

Seeking Field Interns for rattlesnake work in the North Okanagan.
Seeking 2 interns for help with field work based out of Vernon, BC. This position will be full time for approximately 3-4 weeks. The dates are unfortunately not exact as it depends on environmental conditions but approx. Sept 15 - Oct. 15 though likely shorter on the tail end.
Interns will be assisting researchers from TRU experienced in rattlesnake handling in capturing and processing Northern Pacific rattlesnakes at dens as they enter hibernacula for the winter. Interns will be trained in safe handling procedure and will be expected to handle live snakes. Field time will vary but expect 8+ hours with few to no days off as it is a bit of a marathon to collect this very important data. Applicants must be able to hike 10+ Km's daily on rugged and steep terrain carrying an average of 15lbs.
NOTE: This is an unpaid position. Accommodation WILL be provided. It is not lavish and there are several expectations that applicants must abide by at the accommodation. Applicants will be responsible for food costs and their own transport to/from Vernon before and after the project. daily transportation for work covered.
