Position: Website & Content Creation Specialist
Organization: AWARE (Association of Whistler Area Residents for the Environment)

The Association of Whistler Area Residents for the Environment (AWARE) has been Whistler’s environmental charity for over 30 years. We work to progress community-scale solutions to some of the biggest challenges of our time. Climate Change. Habitat Loss. Wildlife. Waste.
Water. Biodiversity. Wilderness. We work independently and with others to connect people with nature and build more sustainable communities.
Every member of our small but dedicated team has the opportunity to create change from within the programs they work on – whether inspiring future generations to care about the environment, helping people grow local organic food in our community gardens, or supporting businesses to reduce waste. The Position:
The Website & Content Creation Specialist will work with our Community Engagement Manager and small team to build the effectiveness of our online communications and programming tools. This is a great opportunity for those interested in learning about the delivery of environmental programs and the application of digital engagement strategies and tools to connect with varied stakeholder groups such as partners, resort visitors, community organizations and residents.

Online Engagement Effectiveness
The nature of this position is such that the successful candidate will engage with the full range of 20+ local environmental initiatives AWARE works on in the Whistler community. As such it is a great way to get a breadth of experience in a short timeframe. This position is offered at 30hrs/week for a period of 6 months from June 6th 2022 to November 25th 2022 at a rate of $23-$26/hr (dependent on experience) and has the the potential to transition to a permanent role based on performance and funding.
About You:
Post-secondary education preferably in sciences or communications; have strong computer skills; a broad understanding of media and other communications channels; and a keen interest in the Whistler community and environmental issues.
