INTRODUCTION
The Oldman Watershed Council (OWC) is a collaborative forum for all voices, working for watershed health through education, action, and stewardship.
The OWC is one of 11 Watershed Planning and Advisory Councils (WPACs) recognized by the Government of Alberta under the Water for Life Strategy. With this designation, the OWC is responsible for facilitating collective action through watershed planning, stewardship activities, best management practices, and education. We work with everyone to find practical solutions to the immense environmental challenges of our time.
As a small, nimble charity with a dedicated team of strategic thinkers, we are able to be responsive and innovative to maximize our impact. Our success hinges on the trusting partnerships we have built with decision makers and influencers from all sectors, and regular, relevant communications are vital to maintain these important relationships.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The OWC is seeking a creative and outgoing Media Development Specialist. Working closely with the Communications Manager and Executive Director, the successful candidate will use their diverse skill set to advance communications initiatives and outreach goals of OWC in a dynamic environment.
The individual will exercise their proven ability to create with their excellent critical thinking skills to assist with a range of OWC projects and initiatives. Specifically, they will develop relationships with partners and community members, create and edit engaging written content, produce—and assist in the production of—short and long form videos, organize public events, capture interesting and professional visual content, design media graphics, and support the Communications Manager in other tech-based projects.
This position will work full time (36.25 hours/week) from OWC’s office in Lethbridge. Working remotely is negotiable, with travel throughout the watershed as required. Evening and weekend work is occasionally required.

$30-33/hour ($56,550 - $62,205 per year)
3 weeks paid vacation per year
