Hiring: Organic Farm Staff
Farm: Northstar Organics
Location: Central Saanich, near Victoria, BC

Northstar Organics is a certified organic 10-acre, mixed vegetable and berry farm located in Central Saanich.  We grow a large variety of field and greenhouse fruit and vegetables, all for sale locally through farmers markets and to restaurants. 

We are looking for reliable, hard-working, and enthusiastic employees to join our farm staff.  General tasks include cultivation and harvest of field and greenhouse crops. We provide the opportunity to learn the business of small scale organic intensive growing using innovative and modern farming techniques.  The huge variety of crops and tasks ensures that employees have a varied and engaging work experience.

Field Crew Qualities and Traits

• Experience in farming or other outdoor physical work is an asset
• Desire to learn more about small scale intensive organic agriculture
• Good physical fitness and stamina - lots of bending, crouching, and lifting (up to 50 lbs) required
• Ability to do repetitive tasks quickly and precisely
• Resilience to working in all weather conditions
• Creative problem-solving skills
• Keenness to improve efficiency in all our systems and processes
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

All positions are full-time, 9am – 5pm, 5 days per week. We are looking for 2 people to start in April & one more in May.  These positions go from April/May until at least the end of October.  Compensation is $17/hr to start. After 2 weeks of work an informal work evaluation will be given for all new employees, along with the possibility of compensation raises.
