VEGETABLE FARMING & GARDENING JOBS

Position: 2021 Vegetable Farmer / Farm Hand

We are a local 4 Diamond and award winning restaurant that operates a 2 acre vegetable farm supplying our “Farm to Table” kitchen in Niagara Falls. We grow 25+ varieties of heirloom vegetables from seed each season as well as maintain an on-site apiary which produces honey, honey comb and bee pollen. This season we are seeking a full-time farm hand to work in all areas of the field operation. The position will work approximately 7am-3pm week days and week-ends as needed with two days off each week. May 18 through end of October with flexible availability needed at the beginning and end of the season. $18 per hour for the right candidate. Please review our website at http://www.agcuisine.com

Farm Hand Requirements

• Knowledge of transplanting seedlings
• Knowledge of planting vegetables and grass from seed
• Knowledge of row cover / insect netting and its uses
• Ability to work unsupervised while maintaining deadlines
• Physically able to work in the sun/rain, hot or cold weather
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods
• No fear of working near bee hives
• Knowledge of watering / feeding schedules with a few years of growing experience. Demonstrated home gardening experience is also acceptable
• Strong communication skills as you will be working unsupervised
• Experience scouting for pest control and plant disease
• Ripe vegetable harvesting / picking experience
• Ability to work small machinery (lawn mower / hoe / hammer /harvest knife / sheers etc)
• Transportation to the farm in Niagara Falls is a must
