Position: Food Program Supervisor

Position: Food Program Supervisor

Position Purpose: Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House is looking for a Food Program Supervisorwho is passionate about engaging and empowering people to cook healthy meals. The ability to work with groups of children, seniors, youth and families from a diversity of backgrounds is important. An understanding of food security is an asset.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Leading a Saturday Community kitchen lunch program for children, seniors, families and youth.
  2. Working afterschool with the Youth Worker to lead a Youth Leadership Training Program for youth (E.A.T.)
  3. Lead programs and gatherings where people learn to cook (some of these will be training, presentations or workshops)
  4. Partnership Programs with the Cedar Cottage Food Network


  • Experience in cooking healthy, tasty and easy-to-prepare food
  • Excellent facilitation and/or teaching skills
  • Ability to work with a diversity of population groups particularly those experiencing poverty, health issues and discrimination
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • A detail-oriented multitasking and creative problem-solver
  • 1-2 years post secondary
  • Knowledge of Neighbourhood House work
  • Knowledge of the Kensington-Cedar Cottage Community
  • Consent to a Criminal Record Check

Salary: $19.87 per hour (ANHBC Band 7, Base)

Terms of Employment: 14 hours per week (Saturday and flexible hours Monday-Friday)
