Positions: Canvasser
Organization: Wilderness Committee
Location: Greater Vancouver Area / Metro Vancouver BC

Passionate about nature? Join the team, and help fight for a wild future!

Our canvassing team is a vital part of our outreach and fundraising efforts. You will work one-on-one with our campaigners to hone your communication skills, and help educate and mobilze the public around key environmental issues. We work year-round in neighbourhoods all over the lower mainland.

Our in-house Door Canvass team is a great introduction to employment with a non-profit environmental group. You will often be the first and most integral point of contact between members of the public, and our campaigns. The experience gained working face-to-face talking about these issues provides an excellent basis for getting to know the politics of the province.

We are recruiting passionate and enthusiastic team members who share in our group's values. Experience is not necessary — full training is provided for everyone.

About the Wilderness Committee

The Wilderness Committee is Canada's people-powered wilderness preservation group. We have more than 60,000 supporters, volunteers and activists from coast to coast to coast working together to preserve wilderness, protect wildlife, defend parks, safeguard public resources and fight for a stable and healthy climate. Current campaigns include protecting our bee populations by opposing neonicotinoid pesticides; defending Walbran Valley and other tracts of old growth forest in BC; and promoting a healthy climate by working on issues surrounding the tar sands, tankers, pipelines and fracking.

Shifts available Monday-Thursday (weekend shifts provided to reliable full-time canvassers).

Shift hours are 4:30-10pm (canvassing between 6-9pm).

  • Part-time: 2 shifts/week
  • Full-time: 4+ shifts/week

Pay is by the hour and based on a band system. Canvassers are paid between $15 and $46/hour depending on performance, with the crew average being $20 per hour. Field Managers earn additional compensation for managing shifts.
