Green Event Crew Member

Position: Crew Member

Employment Dates: November 21st 2018 - January 5th, 2019

Hours: 4pm – 12am Tuesday – Sunday (6 days/week) Mondays off.

Compensation: To be discussed. $15-18 / hour depending on experience

Who We Are

We are Green Event Services and we work with events and festivals to responsibly manage solid waste. We develop and implement systems that reduce waste at the source, and deploy infrastructure and staff to manage waste on event sites, with the goal of Zero Waste Events.

Position Scope of Work

Green Event Crew Member’s work as part of The Green Team to meet our goals of reducing event waste and keep as much waste out of landfills as we can. This includes set up and management of recycling stations, keeping designated event spaces clean, transporting collected waste material, and sorting collected material for contamination. This job will provide great opportunities to gain work experience, educate people about waste reduction, and have a positive impact on our environment and communities.

Crew Members are expected to manage waste in a safe and professional way. This is a team supported position. Crew Members report to Green Event Leader and are supported by other crew members and area managers.

Project Details

This project is a large winter festival happening in central Vancouver from November 23rd to December 30th, 2018. The festival runs 6 days a week and days off are Monday. We are looking for team members who can work through the duration of the entire festival.

On-site Event Duties:

  • Promptly arrive on-site at specified date and time
  • Set up recycling stations and other equipment (including signage and other supplies) throughout event sites as instructed by Logistics Leads
  • Change and replace full compost, recycling and garbage bags at recycling stations
  • Transport all collected waste material to designated drop-off locations throughout the event site
  • Pick up litter and micro waste throughout event site to maintain a high level of cleanliness always
  • Sort through collected material for contamination and continually ensure safety and cleanliness of sorting station
  • Weigh material and record data on tracking sheet
  • Troubleshoot event issues and relay information back to Area Manager or Event Leader
  • Teamwork and close collaboration with other Crew Members
  • Educate event patrons about waste diversion, waste reduction and the move towards zero waste
  • Follow Health & Safety Procedures as outlined by Green Event Services
