CORPORATE CHARITY CHALLENGE & SPECIAL EVENTS COORDINATOR

Job Title: Corporate Charity Challenge & Special Events Coordinator
Organization: Pinnacle Pursuits Inc.

Salary/Pay: TBD – based on skills and experience

Required Commitment: January-October (10 months with possible opportunity to continue)

Employment Conditions: F/T contract position with a three-month trial period

Location(s): Office in Vancouver; main events in Victoria and Metro Vancouver

Reports to: Jonathan Willcocks, President

Pinnacle Pursuits is an award-winning Vancouver-based company that has been providing experiential-based charity and corporate adventures, leadership development and high impact team-building events and programs to diverse population groups since 1997.

Pinnacle’s charity challenge sector is responsible for designing and delivering large-scale, adventure-based race events that provide a unique team-building opportunity for people to stretch out of their everyday comfort zones while raising money for charity. These events blend the best of adventure team-building with sporting races/competitions (Tough Mudder meets the Amazing Race) in an effort to create memorable high impact experiences for participants and stakeholders and their communities.

JOB PURPOSE:

With the aim of delivering outstanding race-day experiences for participants, event stakeholders, staff and volunteers, the Corporate Charity Challenge & Special Events Coordinator leads the planning, development, organization and staging of our charitable challenge races and events.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead or contribute to all phases of course design and event-day planning – from creative design conception to event day execution
  • Help create new and innovative team-building initiatives and games
  • Connect regularly with clients, sponsors and community stakeholders in stewardship of their hopes and expectations
  • Provide ongoing direction, training and support for core staff, event officials and volunteers
  • Manage and distribute event planning documents and operating schedules
  • Serve as a race co-director and primary point of contact during events
  • Ensure the integrity and longevity of events by continuously refining policies, tools, and best practices
  • Aim high in all aspects of work, striving for achievement, while having the support to fail, learn and grow

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Experience planning events, including working with partners, vendors, sites, community stakeholders, etc.
  • Experience working with groups in an adventure leadership capacity
  • Experience leading and managing staff or volunteer teams
  • Digital fluency, including experience with Microsoft and Google Suites software and tools.
  • Strong written, interpersonal and presentation skills, wherein engaging others and building win-win-win relationships is natural
  • Able to both develop and complete tasks independently, and embrace collaboration as a team member
  • Capable of remaining deliberative, calm, organized, and attentive to detail while being positive and responsive under pressure
  • Adaptable to significant swings in workload, including pre-event pushes, peak program booking seasons (spring and early fall) and complementary quiet periods
  • Flexible to work some evenings, weekend and multi-day/overnight events
  • Safe and competent driver with a valid BC driver’s license
