SNAP is expanding our fall team! We are currently hiring for the Field Team Leader and Field Team Member positions in order complete more restorative plantings across the City of Surrey this fall.

Surrey’s Natural Areas Partnership (SNAP) is a unique partnership between three local non-profit organizations and the City of Surrey. SNAP’s goals are to restore and enhance Surrey’s urban forest; to promote environmental stewardship; and to empower youth as future leaders in environmental conservation. Position Description: Implement ecological restoration and enhancement projects in Surrey parks by removing invasive plants, maintaining planting sites, removing litter and refuse and providing shade tree maintenance. Team leaders will report to the SNAP Program Coordinator and supervise one or more team members in this field-based position. Team Members will report to a Field Team Leader. This position is primarily focused on invasive plant removal and restoration plantings.

• Ensure work is completed in a safe and efficient manner
• Maintain accurate daily records, track project deliverables and provide updates to supervisors
• Communicate with the public as an ambassador of SNAP and our partner organizations
• Other related duties as required

Desired Qualifications:

• Some post-secondary study in a field such as urban forestry, geography, arboriculture or environmental studies
• Demonstrate willingness and ability to perform repetitive, physical work in all weather conditions
• Supervisory and/or leadership experience required for Field Team Leader position
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Strong public relations, interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30lbs
• Knowledge of ecological principles, ability to identify local native and invasive plants and common shade trees
• Provide steel-toed boots
• Field Team Leaders require a Class 5 BC driver’s license (or equivalent) with a safe driving history, and able to submit a driver’s abstract, Field Team Members require a Class 5 or 7 driver's license
• Valid Level 1 First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the start of employment)
• Completion of a Police Information Check will be required as a condition of employment
