The Volunteer’s Role

As people increasingly migrate to urban settings, more than half of the world’s population now lives in cities. It is vital to plan and provide for sustainable and resilient food systems which reflect this challenge. In Lima, the world’s second largest desert city after Cairo, intra- and peri-urban agriculture is increasingly recognized for its role in food security and climate change adaptation and mitigation.

In 2015, producer groups, non-governmental organizations, universities, eco-markets, food basket programs, and activists came together to establish a multi-stakeholder platform to build on decades of community-led efforts, promote dialogue, collaboration, and consensus-building, facilitate planning, coordinate activities, and promote effective ways to integrate urban agriculture into public policy.

This is where your experience and skills are needed!

  • Ensure effective coordination and internal communication between members, facilitating cross-learning and collaboration;
