POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting directly to Lead Guide, and indirectly to the General Manager, Tourism & Recreation, this person will be responsible for guiding guests on our Canopy Tour (Tree Top Boardwalk) as well as facilitating occasional group programing for all ages.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Providing safe and exciting experiences for our guests
• Interpreting different aspects of the natural world
• Assisting with the maintenance of the Canopy Tour, outdoor gear and related facilities
• Providing excellent customer service working with a variety of groups including both general public and other team members
• Maintaining a clean and safe work environment
• Performing all tasks in accordance with company safety policies
• Performs all tasks in accordance with established safe work practices and standards, operating procedures
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Post-secondary education in Tourism & Recreation, Outdoor Education, Fish and Wildlife, Forestry, or related field
• Previous experience teaching and facilitating group experiences
• High ropes/climbing/belaying experience (asset)
• First Aid / CPR certification
• Bronze cross or similar training/certification (asset)
• Additional languages spoken and understood an (asset)
• Experience with canoeing tripping and overnight hiking trips
• Flexibility to work overtime as required

Must be

• Self-driven
• Outgoing with a positive attitude
• Comfortable presenting in front of groups as well as one on one
• Safety conscious
• Comfortable and confident working at heights
• Experienced at safely managing groups of varying interests and dynamics

HOURS OF WORK:

• 40 hours per week
• Contract from May 2 to October 14 with the possibility of an extension
• Flexibility with start date
• Weekend work required, may include evening programming and overnight tripping

COMPENSATION, BENEFITS & PERKS:

• Compensation will be determined based on the experience of the candidate
