General Help Wanted

This job is suited to someone who is looking to spend the summer away from home, deep in the forests of Algonquin Park. You will get some good experience working in a small team to help run a remote lodge. While the work is hard and dirty it can still be a lot of fun.

  1. Washing dishes after breakfast and dinner, for up to 30 people.
  2. Luggage transfers using the ATV and a trailer.
  3. Preparing their rooms prior to arrival. Making the bed, making sure room is clean, etc.
  4. Helping to stack firewood.
  5. Helping to serve meals.
  6. Helping to groom trails using a brushsaw.
  7. Helping to keep the lodge clean – once a day sweeping floors, cleaning bathrooms.
  8. Cutting the grass.
  9. When the Lodge is not busy it is expected that you will use your initiative to do other jobs that constantly need doing, like painting, stacking firewood, trail grooming, etc.

These are the ideal qualities we are looking for, but if you can meet most of them we can provide some "on the job" training for anything you don't have.

  1. You must be friendly and "in a good mood" all the time.
  2. Basic First Aid & CPR would be an asset.
  3. You must be willing to do hard work, and not mind doing dishes for up to 30 people.
  4. You must get along with other people, as you will be helping the other staff members in their tasks.
  5. You must make a commitment to work for July and August. Late June till mid October would be preferred.
  6. A valid drivers license is an asset, though not required. Completion of an ATV Operation and Safety Course is needed if you don't have a drivers license.

The pay is $500-$600/week. This job includes your meals and accommodations at the lodge. A schedule will be worked out so that you get one day off every week.

  1. We are on a private lake, surrounded by forests, so there are a lot wildlife viewing opportunities.
  2. Animals in our immediate area include beavers, wolves, bears, hawks, chipmunks, deer, moose, turtles, and many small species of birds including hummingbirds.
  3. Nice lake for swimming, fishing, or canoeing during the day.
  4. Spend a summer in the Canadian wilderness!
  5. Meet people from all over the world.
  6. Your meals and accommodations are included.
