Position: Rental Host

Looking for 2 Full-time Rental Host to start ASAP!

2 Full-time roles (5 Days per Week):

1. June to Oct

1. June to September

Come spend time at beautiful Camp Fircom, on Gambier Island! (It’s only a 20-minute water taxi from Horseshoe Bay)

Camp Fircom is a not-for-profit charity working to create communities of belonging and experiences to grow on. Fircom offers summer camp experiences to kids and adults, leads outdoor school programs and offers venue rentals for weddings and other large groups.

Camp Fircom is offering the following paid Rental positions for 2019:

Rental Host

WAGE: $115 per day + all meals + water taxi to and from the island for days off + staff shirt + access to numerous hiking trails, water sports equipment, and other activities. Client tips for weddings are shared (paid out in a lump sum at the end of the season.) In-house training to lead Kayaking, Canoeing, Archery. Recreation Canoe Association of BC Certification. Pleasure Craft Operation License (Training in how to drive a Power Boat)


  • Be comfortable doing physical labor (carrying benches, setting up tables, mopping floors, etc…)
  • Enjoy providing hospitality services and meeting new people
  • Be adaptable to challenges that arise with a positive, solution-focused perspective
  • Be comfortable working alone or in a team
  • Be capable of completing tasks efficiently within a scheduled timeline
  • Have a pleasant and joyous attitude
  • Be comfortable living on-site in the community for the duration of their work-week (travel to the mainland for days off is provided)
  • Current level 2 criminal record check with vulnerable sector search (can be completed after interviews)
  • Outdoor and Watersports enthusiast


  • Set-up and tear down for events
  • Cleaning (a large portion of a work week will involve cleaning)
  • Lead guest programming (archery, kayaking, canoeing, hiking)
  • Serving, busing tables
  • Some support for ‘Site’ doing repairs and maintenance around camp
  • Monitoring guest, staff and site safety during events

Staff are encouraged to use their free time to relax, play and enjoy their time in nature.
