Competitive independent school salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience
Kawartha Montessori School (KMS) is a well-established, accredited Montessori school in the beautiful Peterborough area. It is situated on a ten-acre property adjacent to a Provincial Park forest. At KMS we emphasize outdoor, environmental, and community-based learning. KMS is a successful, not-for-profit, independent school that is supported by a professional Board of Directors. We are the only CCMA accredited Montessori school in the region. We are proud of our supportive staff and parent community, and our unique learning environment for children 2.5 to 14 years of age.
We are seeking a grade 7/8 Lead Teacher (Adolescent Guide) for our Middle School program. The program is a unique and academically rigorous Montessori experience. Its integrated curriculum is grounded in experiential, inquiry-based, and student-directed learning. Students work in a collaborative environment where accountability and critical thinking are encouraged. As in other KMS classes, our Middle School program aims to foster respectful interpersonal relationships, self and group leadership, caring, and empathy. This unique program is empowering and challenging for students and staff!
With the support of the school Principal, the Lead Teacher/Guide will be responsible for the overall implementation of the Middle School program. The Lead Teacher/Guide will work in collaboration with a part time classroom co-teacher, and several specialists, to facilitate the Middle School experience.
